Update Regarding COVID-19

 Dear Discovery Church Family,

On behalf of the Elder Board and your Staff I wanted to communicate with you in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic.  As you well know, these are unprecedented days in terms of the overall impact of this virus socially, medically, economically and otherwise.  As leadership at your church, we are taking these impacts and threats very seriously and want to protect every individual that is connected to this ministry and do our part to help slow the spread of the disease and protect the public health.

To that end I wanted to make you aware of the plans and precautions that we have put into place to maximize safety and honor the Lord.

The Larimer County Department of Health and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) have issued guidelines and recommendations that we intend to follow closely.  In addition, inasmuch as the Poudre School District has made the decision today to close their facilities until March 27, and our State Governor has requested that large gatherings be temporarily curtailed, those will be guidelines for us as well.

For the immediate, we are planning to shift our emphasis to “online” and will cancel our regular, gathered worship services this coming Sunday (3/15) at Discovery. In addition, going forward we are preparing to cancel our public worship services, planned events and large-group meetings at least for the following two weeks (through 3/29). This will include our Awana Clubs, the Shine Ministry, the Seder outreach, and our mid-week Youth Group programs.

Though our public worship times will be cancelled on-site, we have put into place a video-recording capability which will allow us to film the sermon each week and which will allow anyone to participate in viewing the worship service on Sunday mornings by clicking here from the comfort and safety of your home. You may also participate in worship-in-giving by clicking on here or by mailing your gifts to the church office.

As always, we want to honor the Lord in our decision-making and in obedience to His Word.  We do not operate with a spirit of fear, but we must be wise, discerning, and loving. We will continue to do so as we monitor the situation day-to-day.

Please continue to pray for those who have been affected by this contagion and that the Lord will bring it to a speedy resolution in our country and worldwide. May the Lord bless you and keep you!

In Christ,

Pastor Rick Vannoy
